Organization for the promotion of Mozu-Furuichi Kofungun

Osaka Prefectural Government and Sakai, Habikino and Fujiidera City Governments established the Conference Headquarters for the Promotion of Mozu-Furuichi Kofungun for World Cultural Heritage Inscription in May 2011, aiming at preserving the ancient tumulus cluster, promoting community development utilizing historic and cultural properties and enhancing attractiveness of the cities through inscription of the site on the World Heritage List. The Conference Headquarters is working with local communities and private organizations to foster mood for its inscription and successfully gain the World Cultural Heritage status.

  • *1) Working on the nomination dossier to be submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the related issues to be solved, such as proving Outstanding Universal Value, setting the component part and the buffer zone and the legal restrictions to protect visual integrity, discussing with the Agency of Cultural Affairs, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
  • *2) Working on domestic and international publication and disseminating information to utilize the property, as well as enhancing city attractiveness and local motivation.
