38. Hakayama Kofun

Hakayama Kofun is a keyhole-shaped mounded tomb constructed on the plateau in the center of the Furuichi area.

The mound length is 225 m, and the height of the round rear part is 20.7 m.
Cylindrical haniwa (earthenware funerary sculptures) have been excavated from the mound, as have representational haniwa in the shapes of a house and a quiver. The haniwa representing a person holding a shield is one of the oldest human-shaped haniwa ever found.

The construction period dates to the first half of the 5th century.

Walk 11 minutes to the northwest from Furuichi Station on the Kintetsu Railway Minami-Osaka Line.
