11. Maruhoyama Kofun

Maruhoyama Kofun is a scallop shell-shaped mounded tomb constructed next to the outer moat of Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun [2-1], on the west side of its round rear part. This tomb is considered to be related to Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun as a satellite tomb.

The mound length is 87 m, and the height of the round rear part is 9.8 m. It is the largest scallop shell-shaped tomb in the Mozu and Furuichi areas.

Cylindrical haniwa (earthenware funerary sculptures) have been found in the mound.

The construction period dates to the first half of the 5th century.
