The nomination of the “Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group: Mounded Tombs of Ancient Japan” has been submitted to UNESCO.

The nomination of the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group was approved by the Cabinet of Japan on 19 January 2018, and a nomination dossier was submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre by 1 February.
